A nice experience in Vietnam with the light travel 18-23 Dec 2019. After reading all the reviews, I decided to give a... try and to my expectation , everything is well organised by them. I was travelled 4 in the family from Hanoi-Sapa-Halong Bay. The hotels and foods provided is excellent with the price you paid. It’s a very good experience to take a night train from Hanoi to Sapa. But we have a uncomfortable travel back to Hanoi from Sapa by taking the Ecovan. We was put sit the the back seat which is not comfortable so such a long journey. Anyway we was happy to be served a delicious and yummy dinner after reach Hanoi at night.. ms Alex is still able to sort in for us after we decided to go Halong Bay last minute. However, there were some hiccups while... we were boarding the overnight train from Hanoi to Sapa.We weren't allowed to board as the name on our ticket was not as per our Passport and the tour guide had left. Yes, they actually checked the name on our ticket against our Passport and we had to deal with the ticketing agent ourselves who eventually issued us a new ticket with literally minutes to spare after we boarded the train.Lastly, it would be great if the customers are given a heads-up on steep / challenging terrain (i.e. Sapa). I found this company through Facebook. Booking my Vietnam trip with Ms Alex has been very easy and trouble free. The... trip is 7 Days 6 Nights in Hanoi-Halong Bay-Sapa-Ninh Binh. They give very good service & arranged well for all their itineraries. They serve very good food (set menu comprising 1-2 starter, 3-4 main course dish with rice, & desserts) in local restaurant. The food served is totally above our expectation. The portion is huge and many varieties for every meals including fish, chicken, pork, seafood, ducks, vegetables, beefs (we not taking beef, so change to other meat) even though we are only 4 persons (2 adults + 2 kids). On our arrival in the early morning at Sapa, they even brought us to Sunny Mountain Hotel to enjoy the buffet breakfast. We can enjoy the beautiful views of Violet Valley and Fansipan Mountain while taking the breakfast. Our Hotel at Old Quarter is very clean and the location is very good as it is very easy to access to good restaurants especially enjoying Vietnamese food such as egg coffee, banh mi, chicken noodles etc. The night market and Hoan Kiem lake is also within the walking distance. Our tour guides Mr Quan & Mr Duy are very helpful and friendly young teenagers. They able to speak English fluently. The trip is interesting, enjoyable, trouble free and wonderful. The tour package fee is extremely valuable for money. We will choose The Light Travel again in our next trip to other parts of Vietnam. If you wish to travel to Vietnam, just buy the flight ticket and book with this company. I would strongly recommend this company.read more

As we reached Hanoi very early in the morning, their staff Duy straight brought us to have their delicious pho and super creamy egg coffee. 😋😋They are so attentive and make sure we are comfortable during our tour. Glad that we managed to meet up with Miss Alex and say thank you to her. He is very friendly and like his warm service by standing at tourists angle, helping us to cross the busy street in Hanoi and even guide us till we go up to the train cabin. 20 of us had just returned from 7D6N Hanoi-Halong Bay-Mu Cang Chai ground package by The Light Travel with an overnight... stay on board the 5-star President Cruise. It was a very pleasant experience on board the cruise, enjoying good foods with fine dining, live music entertainment and a comfortable room with balcony that opens up to the spectacular view of Halong Bay seascapes. A special thanks to Alex who recommended us to include Mu Cang Chai in our itinerary as the golden terraced rice fields are breathtakingly beautiful. Should you be visiting Hanoi-Sapa in mid-Sep, make sure you visit Mu Cang Chai, trust me, you will never regret. Though we had rather tight itinerary covering fansipan, sapa and bac ha market as well, we totally enjoyed every minute of the tour. We joined their 5D4N Danang trip. The food and accommodations are great. But the tour guide, name Nguyên Lăng Yang who... I personally think there is still room for improvement on his guiding job. Yang suggested to start our second day journey at 10:30am, which maybe too late for our first spot, Golden Bridge. It was too crowded that we couldn’t take a proper photo. In fact, we could avoid the crowds by getting there earlier. Also, on our last day trip at Hoi An, we finished our journey at Pottery Village at 1pm. Yang suggested us to get back hotel and take a nap, only to start our next spot, Ancient Town at 4pm. We thought that was a great idea so we just follow.Ironically, most of the tourist spots close at 5-5:30pm. So we were being rushed to go thru all the spots within limited time. Eventually, we missed out some tourist spots as they are closed. Hope you will improve tour guide quality for better travellers’ experience 🙂read more

We had just completed 7D6N central Vietnam tour package booked with Alex. She was very efficient in arranging the... itinerary and prompt to answer my queries all the time. This was my first visit in Vietnam and we enjoyed the tour very much. The tour guide Thanh arranged by this agency can communicate well with us and very knowledgeable on the sites visited. He was very caring and helpful to accommodate our requests, a good translator when communicating with local people and went extra miles to help resolve my local sim card problem with the network provider. The driver Duc was courteous and punctual all the time too. The accommodation arranged were all clean and comfortable, only the location of the luxurious hotel in Hoi An if it's closer to ancient town will be perfect. We'd also prefer to add more famous street / local food to the daily meals. Overall we feel this was fun and worth the value trip. We would use this travel agency again if visit Vietnam another time and would recommend it to anyone. I organised a 5D4N company trip from Malaysia to Hanoi - Sapa - Ha Long Bay for 28 guests from 30 August to 3 September... 2018 and this is undeniable the best group tour I have ever been to. Alex from Sales and Marketing Team has shown her professionalism when we first got in touch. Not only she tailored an itinerary which is suitable for our group for that particular season, but also went the extra miles by helping us to get cheap SIM cards and even got my father a beautiful birthday cake on our Pelican Cruise tour. We had made so many amendments before the trip but she never complained and was always happy to accommodate all the changes. We even found out that she purposely bought a baby car seat for the baby in our group just to make sure that the baby could sit comfortably and safely during the trip. We requested for a Chinese-speaking tour guide. The tour guide assigned to us, Xiao Jun is very knowledgeable and kept the guests entertained all the time. It rained heavily while we were in Sapa but Xiao Jun provided free poncho raincoat for everyone so that we could still enjoy the scenery in a different way. Besides that, he filled up our long bus journey with karaoke and movie sessions so that everyone enjoyed the long journey! Also, the restaurant foods were very delicious and the last dinner at SEN TAY HO Buffet restaurant has the largest selection of foods we have ever seen. All the guests were very delighted with the tour arrangement! Not to forget our bus driver who managed to provide us a safe journey despite the super narrow and hilly streets in Vietnam. Booking this Vietnam trip with Ms Kathy has been so easy and trouble free. We spend 6 Days 5 Nights (Hanoi-Halong... Bay-Hoa Lu) in northern part of Vietnam. Ms Kathy is very understanding and attending to details (preparing SIM card for us on the first day as we arrived late due to flight delayed). She is very open minded and always welcome all sorts of feedbacks. She will try her very best to resolve the issues at earliest possible. Customer satisfaction is always her priority. On the second last day of the trip, she even invited us for a lovely and wonderful dinner at one of the local restaurant. Apart from that, she has gone beyond and above our expectations, she even bring us to weekend night market to buy and bargain some souvenirs. She has done all these on top of her actual duties and responsibilities. Our entire trip is well planned with good food and accommodation. Hotel at Old Quarter is the best as it is very easy to access to good restaurants especially enjoying Vietnamese food such as bun cha, beef/chicken pho, banh mi, spring rolls (fresh and deep fried), hanoi beer and etc. From the moment we touched down at Hanoi, private driver had been arranged to pick us up and sent us to hotel as well as on the last day of the tour. We never have to pay any extra for all the transportation. Tour package fee for 6D 5N is indisputable. This is definitely value for money. We will definitely use The Light Travel again in our next trip to other parts of Vietnam. I would strongly recommend Kathy and her team. Overall, my experience booking my travel with The Light Travel has been really good - great travel experience for an... economical budget, which is exactly what I’m looking for.I consulted the agency for a 6D5N Hanoi, Sapa (with Fansipan) & Halong Bay package in late November 2017 for my brother and I, and Alex (from The Light Travel) had laid out an interesting and well thought out plan for my budget and my needs.What I like about the plan: 1. A good mix of private and group tour was catered for us. There were good opportunities to join part of a group for the different tours - be it in Sapa, or Halong Bay (which both my brother & I really enjoyed, as we made friends with many people all over the world). We had private tour for Hanoi City Tour & Fansipan visit.2. Alex knows her stuff, she is responsive in replying my queries via WhatsApp / email. The places of interest & food she recommend are really good. During the planning stage, she was able to customize the tour to cater to your preference and requirements. Because of her, we had the opportunity to experience a good night train experience to Sapa & the sleeper bus (very interesting bus design for both my brother and I) back to Hanoi.3. The third thing I like most is, I really enjoyed leaving the liaising and coordinating work in Alex’s good hands. While she wasn’t with us physically for the most bit, she basically helped us book everything (from airport transfer, to hotel to train tickets etc etc), and she has been very responsible in ensuring there are people taking care of us, making sure the transfers / hosting etc etc are all taken care of. In another illustration, she made sure we had a place to shower before we take the overnight train to Sapa - which is something I find difficult to do it on my own without paying for another day of accommodation just to shower.How I feel about the accommodations: Value for money, you get what you pay for.1. During our stay in Sapa, we enjoyed our stay in Sunny Mountain Hotel, but would love if the hotel had given us the Mountain View room that we paid for. Nevertheless, Alex helped to explain on the hotel’s behalf, there were limited rooms available as the hotel was facing heater issues during our stay hence, hence they recommended For us to transfer. However, we were too tired of moving around, and thus, she ensured we stayed in the same hotel. We stayed in the Garden view, and the amenities in the hotel is good. I like it. Value for money. We were too tired after the trek and were really just resting in the hotel to recuperate.2. Our stay in Hanoi, was a 3 Star hotel that was very centrally located in Old Quarters. The hotel is well located, and for the value - it’s worth it. We weren’t expecting much from the room, it’s a little old, but to me it’s relatively clean and quite comfy to sleep in. Just what I’m looking for. Alex also helped to rectify and ensure the hotel catered a twin room instead of a double room for my brother and I. 3. Our 2D1N cruise experience was fantastic, appreciate that Alex helped to sign up a fun cruise experience that included Kayaking, Cave sightseeing, & Vietnamese cooking class etc. we were part of a group tour of 13 ppl, made lotsa great friends on this trip. I have just returned from a fun-tastic solo 8 day tour of Vietnam arranged by our own dear Alex of The Light Travel.... All in all, it was an excellent trip with no coughs and hiccups whatsoever, with smooth sailing all the way. The program chalked out by Alex was nothing short of a stroke of genius- starting in Hanoi- Halong Bay, then on to Hue-My Son-Hoi An- Danang and ending up in HCM, where she managed to squeeze in both the Cu Chi tunnels AND the Mekong Delta. (most itineraries I saw elsewhere on the net were either-or).The tour was a healthy mix of group tour and private individual tour, so when the crowds were getting a bit too overwhelming, there was a private tour lined up- for me with me as the solo passenger. I am so used to solo travel by now that I found this a much redeeming feature.All the arrangements worked like clockwork. All pick-ups all the way from North to Central to South Vietnam were always invariably there and on time, the co-ordination was superb, and even though I had to opt out of the afternoon leg of my Hanoi city tour as the Museum of Ethnology was closed on that day and I had a flight to catch, my guide made sure I was comfortable in a classic period cafe in Old Hanoi and called the tour company about the alternative pick up for my ride to the airport which arrived bang on time. In Hue, I was getting worried as it was pouring cats and dogs, but guess what, the guide was there! I was amazed at the excellent co-ordination, and all guides all over the country had been briefed about special (read solo) arrangements that had to be made for me in certain places. The associate travel companies and their guides were top notch throughout. Only thing that sort of confused me somewhat was that the hotels mentioned in the itinerary had been changed at the last minute at Hue and Hoi An. But confused though I was, I am not complaining because the alternative hotels were really superb, especially the one in Hue- it had been recently refurbished and was gleaming and had the feel of a 5* property. In HCM, I was not too happy with the sheer size of our group on the Mekong Tour- it was nearly 50! But the superman guide Tony managed them all superbly with great organizing skills and his keen sense of humour. But I would personally not like to travel with such a large group. That was the only irritant on this entire trip, though Tony the guide was a true hero that day and more than made up for it.B, L and D were included almost throughout the trip, and although the food was par excellence, the set 7 course Vietnamese menu was beginning to get a bit overwhelming after the initial novelty wore off after a couple of days- it was just too heavy and hearty to eat twice in a day! In fact, I had my guide call out and cancel the lunch in Hue (he had to call his travel company in advance and get their permission etc. as I just could not handle the lunch that day. Same in the evening- I could eat only a couple of selected dishes out of the seven and told the kitchen staff to have treat on me- fortunately I was the only diner then and they were quite amused and grateful!). A lighter dining option would have been a welcome change in situations where you cannot handle seven exotic dishes two times a day.I have been requested by the travel company for any suggestions I may have for improvement. With all the excellent co-ordinated arrangements and high quality of the tours and tour guides and vehicles throughout the 8 day tour, I really cannot think of any suggestions for improvement, except the optional light menu I mentioned earlier and to have a smaller group size like on the Mekong tour. Alex did a commendable job throughout so no cause for complaint.My only suggestion however would be that The Light Travel could consider presenting all customers with a welcome pack- basically a thick card foldable tourist map of Vietnam, with picture icons showing all points of interest from North to South. (easily downloaded from the internet). Now I know every customer has his/her own itinerary, so it would be impossible for The Light Travel to customize each and every map, but a generic tourist map given to each tourist will give them a lot of useful insight as to where they are going and where they have been (and where they can go in future). I was really pining for such a map on several nights at the hotel. At the end of the day, it would be fascinating for guests to see on the map how much they have seen that day.On the reverse of the map can be useful traveler tips. Like Capital of Vn, a short paragraph about the local culture/ Vietnamese traditionas, the local currency is Dong and conversion to Us$, € and 3 - 4 currencies max for where most tourists come from. The page could also include useful phrases in Vietnamese for hello, thank you, good morning etc. (5 - 6 only). People may also appreciate shopping tips, typical weather in Vietnam Jan-Dec., highlights during the year and when to visit to see this and that festival, Must Try Vietnamese dishes like Pho, fried Spring Rolls (not Cai though!), warnings for travelers- do not take photos without pernission, do not touch anyone's head, do not point with your feet etc.-- you get my drift. This map with traveler tips will be a souvenir in itself and if printed with the address and contact details of The Light Travel, will have visitors coming back for more trips with The Light Travel, using the map to work out where to go next! We stayed at Halong V'Spirit Cruise, very nice room and food. They serve fresh and yummy seafood! However, please take note that they only provide 1 complimentary small bottle per pax per night. Lunch & dinner do not include drink. Sapa arrangement was ok too. The room in Sapa House is very big, clean and cosy. Sapa is a very beautiful place. However, there are a few points for improvements:1. Try not to arrange the last cabin in the night train to Sapa as it is right next to the toilet. It was too smelly we can't sleep throughout the journey. 2. Sapa driver and tour guide are a bit irresponsible and I always have to check with Alex again on the arrangement.We also enjoyed our last breakfast in Hanoi before catching the morning flight. The lady tour guide (I forgot her name) is very nice and friendly. She brought us to the famous pho restaurant, Pho 10 and treat us nice coffee and tea. This is my first time visited to Hanoi & Halong Bay with full arrangement by Alex from The Light Travel. Obsoletely,... it was a great trip for 6D5N with the perfect arrangement by Alex.Wonderful places that we visited are Hanoi city tour, Sa Pa, Cat Cat Village, Fansipan Legend & overnight cruise at Halong Bay. My family of 5 pax were just back from Hanoi/Sapa/Halong Bay 10D9N trip. V love Northern Vietnam tour. Everyday is full... of fun and anxiety. Mu Chan CAI is awesome, beautiful scenery, friendly local people, homey homestay and local food. Long story if were to describe all....go experience it. We had a great tour to Hanoi, Danang, Hoi An and Hue for our family of four. Transportation and guides were attentive... and reliable. We could not go to Halong Bay due to a Typhoon, but Ms. Alex made last minute changes for us to go somewhere else instead. We are so lucky to have Alex organising for our 5 days 4 nights Hanoi/Sapa tour. She manage to help us organising such... a wonderful and complete itinerary from airport pick, nice hotel, nice food and tour guides in a short period of times. We actually only confirmed with her on Tuesday 14/6 and our flight is 18/6. She did a fantastic job by making all the arrangement even in a such a short notice of 5 days.
